I'm not sure about box dyes but I have used semi permanent dyes like directions/ special effects/ manic panic etc before and they work well for adding colour 🙂

Semi permament colours i guess is okay, because the henna stays outside of the hair, it gives it like a protecting layer and semi permament colours are just staying in the outside of the hair too, for a short amount of time. You need to avoid the dyes which are opening up the layers of the hair (usually comes with oxid), to be more "long lasting", because that can harm your hair and the henna layer too. The best you can do is to just do a test on a small part of hair, so you can see how the whole hair will look like with all the dyes mixing together. Or you can also ask the Hair Lab team on instagram anytime, I'm sure they would love to help you out in these questions! They are always nice and helpful 🙂
